Hello! My name is Olivia Zayas Ryan and I am a student at Elon University majoring in Journalism and Policy Studies and minoring in Leadership Studies and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies. This is my online portfolio where I hope to showcase all of the work I have done through Elon and outside opportunities. At Elon, I am a part of many different organizations. I recently served as the Opinion Editor for our student-run newspaper, The Pendulum, work as a Diversity Ambassador for the university’s Office of Admissions and am a part of an all-female a cappella group, Shirley Tempos. This summer, I also have the privilege of serving as a Programs Intern with GLAAD in New York City, as well as working as a sales associate with Fossil. This website is meant as a platform to highlight the work I am most proud of, as well as a blog where I will be writing several times a week about my general questions, answers and thoughts. Trigger warnings will be put before all applicable pieces as much of my personal writing centers on issues of gender inequality, racism and sexual violence. All opinions are my own.
